A Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, killed at least one person and injured seven others on Monday, according to city Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The attack also damaged a metro station and medical facilities across the city.
Klitschko said in a post on Telegram that the person who died was near a supermarket when the strike happened. Officials were still gathering information about the damage and casualties.
The mayor also reported a strike near an underground metro station. Pictures shared on unofficial Telegram channels appeared to show damage to the station and a tram.
Klitschko said explosions shattered windows at two medical facilities. He also reported that an emergency worker came under attack after reaching the scene of one strike.
Reuters witnesses said several explosions shook the city during the attack. They also reported power cuts in areas east of the Dnipro River.
Russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilians in Ukraine.
